You rely on your appliances. When you are in the market for a new appliance, the best annual deals happen on Black Friday. To help you make the most informed decision regarding your Black Friday appliance purchase, we have compiled a list of our recommendations for the best Black Friday deals.
Top Washers/Dryers
I usually like to recommend high efficiency top load washers for most families. They’re typically more capable of getting kid’s mucky clothes a bit cleaner, but your mileage may vary. All manufacturers claim that front loaders clean better than their top loaders, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Cheapest – Amana top load at Best Buy – This deal is not worth busting down the door. You are only saving $50 and it’s not that great of a washer. Obtaining a slightly more expensive washer will allow you to obtain cleaner clothes and fewer repair expenses.
Best – Samsung top load at several stores, including Lowe’s and Best Buy, $599.99. This machine has a much larger capacity than the cheaper ones and you’ll be happier overall with its wash performance.
Dishwashers
Bosch has been the king of dishwashers for a while now and this model year is no different. All Bosch dishwashers are set up basically the same, but the more you pay, the more soundproofing materials and racks/special features you will get. Be warned however, NONE OF THE BOSCH DISHWASHERS HAVE A HEATING ELEMENT OR FAN TO DRY YOUR DISHES! This is something that some people don’t mind, but others care a great deal about. The Whirlpool family of dishwashers are a close second, including Whirlpool, Maytag, and Kitchen-Aid. Stay away from super discount dishwashers – you get what you pay for and I’ll be visiting you more often than you want me to.
Cheapest – Amana, Boyle’s, starting at $305
Best – Bosch dishwasher, Boyle’s Appliances, prices vary, but either of these brands are typically a good choice to make.
Refrigerators
It’s hard to recommend a single fridge. You can find great things and bad things about almost all brands and the best brands are typically a matter of preference. Here are a few of this year’s top deals:
Best Buy, Home Depot and Lowe’s Samsung French door, $999. Though this refrigerator does not have a water dispenser in the door, it is energy efficient and has a built-in ice maker.
Lowe’s, Whirlpool side by side, $899. This refrigerator does have a water dispenser in the door, as well as fingerprint resistant finish. It is an excellent choice for families.
Deciding to go high end with your appliance purchase? The Samsung 4 door fridge is being discounted over $1400 to $3199! This refrigerator has a built-in ‘Family Hub’ – basically a tablet in your fridge – that can sync your life, calendars, TV, or music with your fridge display. Did you forget your shopping list? No problem! This hub will also allow you to access built in cameras from your smart phone to see what you have in the fridge and what you have run out of!
Appliances are expensive purchases and they are purchases that your family will rely on. It’s always a good idea to do thorough research before deciding on an appliance for your home, especially when you are planning on procuring a Black Friday deal. Don’t let price points make your decision for you; the cheapest options are usually not the best. Though a better machine will cost more initially, they will save you money in repair and energy costs.
