Spring Appliance Repair Tips

Spring is officially underway, which means it’s time for some spring cleaning and appliance maintenance. Here are some appliance cleaning and repair tips to follow to help keep your home clean and appliances working.

Cleaning the Stove and Oven

One of the best things you can do for your appliances is to clean as you go! Keeping food from getting stuck to the stove and oven will allow it to work properly. If you have problems with the oven turning on, or issues with the way its cooking, we recommend giving our experts a call to troubleshoot your stove or oven.

Monthly Dishwasher Maintenance

Dishwashers make up one of the largest roles in our homes. When there is an issue with the dishwasher, it can cause your home to become messy in a hurry! Keeping your dishwasher clean and working properly will not only aid in how clean your dishes will stay, but will reduce energy consumption as its not working as hard to clean the dishes.

Homeowners can easily clean out the filter in the dishwasher. Depending upon the model of your dishwasher, you can usually find the filter in the bottom of the machine. Another pro tip, always rush hot water through the faucet before you turn on the dishwasher. The hot water starts to rush to the dishwasher immediately when you turn it on, making it easy for the dishwasher to start cleaning right away.

Washing Machine

Another neglected device is the washing machine. We love our washers, and forget about them until they break! You can help your washer by doing some maintenance. Clean out the detergent door to remove soap scum. Clean the interior of the machine with authorized washing machine cleaner. Keeping the pipes clean for the washing machine to expel the liquid will allow it to work effectively and continue providing quality water to clean your clothing. Washing machines are delicate, and do require professional training when it comes to most of the intensive repairs needed.

Refrigerator Maintenance

The fridge is one of the most-used appliances in the home. When the fridge isn’t working, the whole kitchen can start struggling! Proper maintenance of the fridge includes annual interior cleaning. Beneath the fridge needs to be cleaned as well to help remove the dust, debris, and other things that can get trapped. Dirt, dust, and other things can make it hard for the airflow to work effectively and keep the fridge working properly.

Microwave

Keep your microwave working effectively to keep your home running! Most microwaves need weekly cleaning to remove food particles that can get stuck on the doors and sides. Clean around the microwave as well to ensure proper airflow, keeping the microwave from dealing with excessive strain.

Dryer

The dryer is another appliance we rely upon. A dryer is difficult to maintain for a lot of homeowners, as the lint trap is the only thing most people check on. Look beyond the lint trap and check on the lint tube. If this tube become too full with lint and dirt and dust, it will cause excessive strain to the dryer. Other problems with a dryer normally require professional help.

At Vanderdoes Home Services, we are here to help you with all your appliance repair and maintenance needs.
